Commit to making a difference

Do you want to contribute to your community and gain experience as an involved citizen? Is being part of an inclusive community that listens to your ideas and point of view important to you?

Maybe there’s a particular project that interests you and you’re looking for help to make it happen… Maybe you’ve identified a situation at school or in your community that could use your help, on your own or in a group… The CJE offers help to youth in the 2nd cycle of Secondary school to make their volunteer projects come to life.

In order to help you understand what is considered volunteer work, please take a moment to learn the definition of a volunteer activity. “Volunteering” implies that the activity possesses the following characteristics :

  • It is an undertaking of your choosing.
  • You are not being compensated for your work. (A volunteer does not receive payment for the work they do.)
  • The intention of volunteer activities is to be in service to another person, your community or a specific cause.

Here is an example of volunteer work :

Throughout the year, Cuistots de la Cité,  formed by a group of  Polyvalente Louis-Saint-Laurent students, collected fruit, vegetables and many other products that Moisson Haut-Saint-François was unable to use. They then transformed what they collected into snacks, meals or desserts and redistributed them to students and  organizations within the community.
